  1. The Solar System

  2. Sun The Sun has multiple purposes including giving off heat, life-giving light, generates space weather, and allows for energy on Earth. It's filled with scorching hot gases that account for more than 99.8 percent of the total mass in the solar system The temperature is over 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit The sun can be very dangerous for people when it comes to their skin and the healthiness of it

  3. 8 True Planets of the Solar System Uranus Neptune Saturn Mercury Jupiter Earth Venus Mars

  4. Moons The best known moon surrounds Earth, but that is not to say that it is the only moon in the solar system There are 4 planet sized moons that surround Jupiter Mercury and Venus are the only planets that do not have any moons Saturn has at least 60 moons The dwarf planet, Pluto, has 3 moons

  5. How many moons surround Jupiter? 4 60 10

  6. GREAT JOB!

  7. TRY AGAIN

  8. Stars Stars are cosmic energy that produce heat, light, and ultraviolent rays as well as other forms of radiation The sun is an example of a star To the naked eye, the sky only reveals about 3,000 stars on a clear evening In actuality, there are more than 100 billion stars in the galaxy

  9. Comets Comets are clumps of rock and dusty ice When a comet nears the sun, it vaporizes The nucleus of a comet is made up of frozen gas and ice The glowing trails of a comet are visible in the sky

  10. Asteroids Most asteroids orbit the sun in the asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars There are 4 main types of asteroids Ceres, Vesta, Gaspra and Eros are the 4 different types of asteroids Asteroids are not planets but they can have moons

  11. Most asteroids are found in the asteroid belt between… Venus and Mars Jupiter and Mars Jupiter and Saturn

  12. GREAT JOB!

  13. TRY AGAIN

  14. Galaxies Galaxies with less than 100 billion stars is considered a “small galaxy” There are 3 main types of galaxies: spiral galaxies, elliptical galaxies, and irregular galaxies. The Milky Way is an example of a Spiral Galaxy Elliptical galaxies contain many older stars Galaxies that are not spiral or elliptical are called irregular galaxies

  15. History In 1969, the Apollo 11 mission to the moon landed upon the moon Purdue University graduate, Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon, serving as captain of the Luna 2 Buzz Aldrin was the second man to land on the moon There have unfortunately been many tragedies in space as well, which was depicted in the film Apollo 13 staring Tom Hanks and Bill Paxton
