  2. Alexandroupolis Alexandroupolis is the capital of Evros prefecture. Thecityislocatedneartheeasternborderof Greece The natural border between Greece and Turkey is Evros river. Alexandroupolis is located in thenortheastern ofGREECE, 2.5 hours away from Salonika and 3 hours from Istanbul-Turkey.

  3. Alexandroupolis was first named Dedeagach but after its liberation took its name from the King Alexander 1. There are two basic buildings that are very characteristic and helped the growth of the city: the lighthouse( a rocky, cylindric tower which reconstructed in 1946 & 1955 ) and the railway station.

  4. Now Then Nowadays the population of our city is about 70.000 residents according to the census of 2011. It’s the result from the merging of municipalities, pre-existing Alexandroupolis, Agnadia, Amphitriti and Traianoupoli and Feres. Its population after 100-200 years has definetely been increased.
