  2. OPERATION • Lead Ions ok but not top perf. due to vacuum not as good as last year. • AD beam ok but still pb synchro: should be solved next year together with diagnostics.

MD ON PSB • HOLLOW BEAM: Applied to: • LHC type beams,4 PSB rings, no improvement for the nominal LHC beam. • Firsts tries for TOF beam, seems to give less losses in PS. • Some pb to maintain bunch flatness for long time: to be understood. • à suivre. • LHC : initial beam needed:exit PS:0.8mm,1.4 1012 2 batches; PSB:1.75 1011/ring) • Achieved in PS 1 batch,1 1012, (eh+ev)/2 <0.6mm after filamentation on injection flat bottom.

  4. MD PSB (suite) • Tries to compensate Qv=5(integer resonance) • excited by dipoles(Qv=5), quads(2 Qv=10), Skew sext(3 Qv=15)... • dipole, quad compensations on ring 2. • switch off XSk’s(3 Qv=16) • double traversal(coherent) see pict. • With Qv=5.26, high space charge 5 to10% more beam(see pict.)
