  1. Charlie the Weather Boy By Erica Ousley

  2. Once upon a time, there was a boy named Charlie who loved to learn about weather.

  3. Every night before bed, Charlie would write in his journal about the type of weather he learned in school that day.

  4. During school on Monday, Charlie learned about clouds. He learned that when water drops fall from clouds it is called rain.

  5. That night before bed Charlie wrote a story about it raining in his town. The next morning, when he woke up it was raining outside, but he did not think anything of it because it was Spring time and rain was normal.

  6. That day at school the class learned about another type of precipitation called snow. When it is very cold outside rain turns to snow.

  7. When Charlie went to bed that night he wrote a story in his journal about having a snowstorm so big that it cancelled school. His mom woke him the next morning and said “You’re not going to believe this honey but school was cancelled today due to the snowstorm.”

  8. Charlie was so confused that he ran over to the window to see for himself. And sure enough the ground was covered with snow. That made him wonder if his journal was magic, but he quickly forgot about it when he went outside to play.

  9. After a long day of playing in the snow, Charlie was exhausted. When he went to bed he wrote his normal story about weather before going to sleep. He wanted to know if his journal really was magic so he wrote a story about something that has never happened in his town. He wasn’t sure what a tornado was but he remembered hearing about one on the news before so he included it in his story.

  10. When he woke up Thursday morning there was no tornado so he thought he was wrong about his journal. On his way to school he noticed that the sky was dark and scary.

  11. While in class, a loud siren started going off. The students did not know what to do because they were scared. The teacher told them that it was the town tornado siren going off to warn everyone of a possible tornado. The students and the teacher had to go to the first floor and take cover just in case a tornado hit.

  12. That is when Charlie decided that he had a magic journal. Charlie was so scared of the tornado warning that he decided that he was not going to write anymore stories about weather in his journal. He wanted the weather to go back to normal and only do what it was supposed to do naturally.
