Giovanni Bragolin • Bragolinwas a trained painter, working in post-war Venice as painter and restorer, producing the Crying Boy pictures for tourists. At least 65 such paintings were made under the name Bragolin, reproductions of which were sold worldwide. In the 1970s he was found to be alive and well-to-do and still painting in Padua. There is an urban legend that follows his painting. It is believed to be a cursed painting. There have been reported house fires that had the picture in it. The house were destroyed but the only thing to not be burnt was the painting.
Analysis • The picture is of a young boy crying. The young boy has a look in his eyes that make me feel sad myself. It is as if he is somehow asking for help without saying a thing. The boy is believed to be an orphan. That is most likely why he is crying. He has no mother or father.
