  2. Lesson Plan • A lesson plan is a detailed description of what the instructor will be teaching, and how the material will be taught • A lesson plan is a Road Map “you cannot get there if you do not know where you are going.” TKS

  3. Cont… A lesson plan is a written statement which sets forth • The objectives of the session • A statement of the material to be presented, and • An indication of the techniques/ methods to be used in presenting and assessing the material TKS

STEPS OF LESSON PLANNING Objectives/Learning outcomes • Objectives specify learning outcomes that a student is going to demonstrate in order to show that learning has taken place. • Objectives are to be formulated in behavioural terms. SMART S= Specific M= Measurable A= Achievable R= Realistic T= Time bound TKS

  7. REQUIRED MATERIAL • Text book • White board • Marker • Audio visual aids • Work sheets • Displays • Charts TKS

  8. CONTENT Contains subject matter /topics to be taught in the class. Resource material may be used for selection of the content. • STRATEGIES/METHODOLOGY • Selection of teaching methodology/strategiese.g. lecture, discussion, activity, demonstration, etc • Sequencing & timing of teaching strategies TKS

  9. PLAN is the operative word. So it should not carry general IDEAS • IDEA--Ask the students about fractions. • PLAN--Show fraction ½ on the white board. Ask a student to tell what he/ she knows about the numeral on the board. After the first response, ask if anyone can add to the description. TKS

Teacher’s Words-Dialogue • Plans should clearly indicate what is to be said or asked by the teacher. • The water cycle has three parts: evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. • Polygons are closed plane figures composed of line segments intersecting at their endpoints. • What did the clever crow do? • NON-Examples • Explain to the class about the water cycle. • Discuss the meaning of the word “polygon”. • Ask several questions about the story.   13. HOMEWORK should : • Be based on the work done in the class • Be interesting and challenging • Be according to age and grade level • Reinforce skills already taught TKS

  14. In Summary Lesson Plans should clearly set out exactly what has been PLANNED to be done during the lesson, not vague ideas.
