PA7 Involvement in the Danube Cosmos 11:00 Danube Cosmos: Ready for Action (slot 2)Parallel sessions on the thematic pillars of the EU Danube Strategy / Building Prosperity Workshop: Challenges and Approaches in Multi-source Funding of Cross-border R&I Projects with a Specific Focus on the Danube Region When developing cross-border research and innovation projects, financing issues are crucial. Large-scale endeavours often necessitate the combination of different funding sources, and this poses a number of challenges for project managers. These range from timing issues in the availability of funds to different eligibility criteria, evaluation processes and funding mechanisms as well as legal and state aid rules.This workshop will try to address a selected number of these challenges and will be based on experiences and approaches on EU, national and project levels. PA7 related events in the Danube Cosmos 12:00 Danube Cosmos: Ready for Action (slot 3)Parallel sessions on the thematic pillars of the EU Danube Strategy / Building Prosperity Presentation and Exhibition: Research Talent Along the Danube – How the River Can Inspire Scientific Careers, The Danubius Award was created in 2011 with the intention of honouring individuals who have attained extraordinary scientific achievements in relation to the Danube Region. In 2014, this award will be complemented by a specific prize for young researchers – the “Danubius Young Scientist Award”. The award seeks to encourage young scientists to engage in the scientific examination of issues specifically related to the Danube and to stimulate the scientific community in the region. In the context of this session, award winners will present themselves and their scientific work. 11:00 Danube Cosmos: Ready for Action (slot 2)Parallel sessions on the thematic pillars of the EU Danube Strategy / Building Prosperity Speakers‘ Corner: Technology Transfer and Regional Competitiveness – Pilot Initiatives in the Danube RegionThis session will illustrate pilot activities aiming to bridge the gap between research and innovation. Furtherrmore, a moderated debate for a technology transfer roadmap in the Danube Region will be held; it will address the following key topics: 1) internationalisation of companies, 2) innovation management in SMEs, 3) role of universities and other R&D organisations, 4) creation of synergies and links between TT activities in the region, 5) smart policies for I&TT capacity building. Due to its cross-sector character, the session specifically targets stakeholders of PA 7 and PA 8.
