  1. Report Writing with heartbase SIR users’ conference

  2. Report Writing with heartbase • Report types • Query Tool – Allows users to pick fields by record type, specify navigation by Procedure Date or Discharge Date, and specify tool to use for the report. • Ad-Hoc – Allows users to specify any fields and any order of field navigation. Many report options are available for output • Registry Retrievals – Allows entire registry data sets to output with a simple click of the button. Report date range is as the registries run reports, ACC by Discharge Date, STS by Procedure Date. • Category Reporting – Allows detailed report analysis by a category, like, LOS. One query produces standard report outputs and formats for packages like SPSS. Frequencies are produced for many of the data variables in the report. SIR users’ conference

  3. Report Writing with heartbase • Master Impacts – To make reports run faster, master is programmatically disconnected while a report runs and is reconnected when the report is finished. SIR users’ conference

  4. Report Writing with heartbase • Startin directory. • Many of the report sources are automatically deposited into the startin directory defined on the desktop shortcut. • Citrix users should contact there is department to determine where the STARTIN directory is located or to change the startin directory SIR users’ conference

  11. ACC Cath Lab Reports • The main menu for ACC reports has been broken up into three sections • ACC 2.0C • ACC 3.04 • All Versions. Note that “All Versions” means 2.0C and 3.04 combined. 1.0 was not tested against these reports. SIR users’ conference

  13. Query Tool Problem/Need • Different logical views of data necessitate different types of Queries • End users have a difficult time doing all the relational joins for queries. • Report needs can occur almost instantaneously with varying report query parameters • One super query instead of many smaller ones to get the job done • Statistics needed from a point and click environment • Sites have different variable reporting needs • Some fields need to be calculated. • Required reporting variables change as systems evolve SIR users’ conference

  14. Query Tool Solution • Generic, adoptable query tool. • Interface directly with Datavisor screen painter. • Reporting elements are stored in a text file and are customizable. • Direct interaction with Excel, SPSS, and SAS which gives familiarity to users and the power of those packages, like statistics, summarization, and graphs. • Provides calculated fields for things like Length of Stay and Patient Age. • Queries are automatically created based on the date path the user wishes to utilize, procedure or discharge date. • Can be saved so the query can be run over and over again without having to recreate it. • Eliminates user need for programming in PQL. 15. heartbase Query Tool The buttons located on the right of this screen are utilized to set the criteria for the query which will be run. Clicking on one of these buttons will open a screen which allows the user to select the variables for the query. SIR users’ conference

  16. heartbase Query Tool Clicking on the different variables will highlight them. Once the desired variables have been selected, click "OK." SIR users’ conference

  17. heartbase Query Tool The drop down menu at the bottom of the ACC Cath Lab Reporter screen allows the user to select the type of procedure to collect data from. Once the desired criterion has been selected, click "Run Query." SIR users’ conference

  18. heartbase Query Tool Once the date range for the query has been entered, click "OK". If needed by discharge date, check the by discharge box. SIR users’ conference

  19. heartbase Query Tool The report will go to SPSS by default, use pulldowns for SAS and Excel formats SIR users’ conference

  20. heartbase Query Tool You have an option of saving the source code for this report to a PQL file name. SIR users’ conference

  21. Ad-Hoc Reporter • Easy way to generate data • Output can be a report, tabulation, graph, or an export file. Export Options include SPSS, SAS, DIF, MINITAB, EXCEL, CSV • Allows field specific picking of field names based on a member stored in the SYSTEM family names EASYACC (ACC 2.0) or EASYA30 (ACC 3.04). These can be edited to add custom fields. • No implied joins are made so full relational database navigation is available. • Walk Thru method for report generation SIR users’ conference

  22. Ad-Hoc Reporter: Customize your Data Points Global Easyprof allows you to specific which record types and fields are displayed when using the PROCEDURE section of the SIR Main Menu SIR users’ conference

  23. Ad-Hoc Reporter: Customize your Data Points Default Logic • global easyprof=NONE • Let’s all the SIR record types be displayed when using the PROCEDURE command. STS2.52 • global easyprof=SYSTEM.easyS252 • Sets the PROCEDURE to allow only the record types/fields found in member SYSTEM.EASYS252 SIR users’ conference

  24. Ad-Hoc Reporter: Customize your Data Points • CASE LIST = '000-00-0001' THRU '~~~~~~~~~~~' • INCLUDE • DEMO.SSNUM • DEMO.LNAME • DEMO.FNAME • DEMO.MINT • HOSP.SSNUM • HOSP.ADMDATE • HOSP.DISDATE • HOSP.SMOKCOUN • CLINPRES.SSNUM • CLINPRES.ADMDATE • CLINPRES.WGTKILO • CLINPRES.HTCM • CLINPRES.SMOKE • SURG.SSNUM • SURG.ADMDATE • SURG.SURGDATE • SURG.SURGSTIM • SURG.PSRGMDID • SURG.SURGSTAT • POSTOR.SSNUM • POSTOR.ADMDATE • POSTOR.SURGDATE • POSTOR.SURGSTIM • POSTOR.POCOMP • STSCATH.SSNUM • STSCATH.ADMDATE • STSCATH.CATHDATE • STSCATH.CATHSTIM • STSCATH.AOVSTEN SIR users’ conference
