  2. Choose 1 of the 4 writing assignments completed in Theme 1. • When you choose a piece to revise and publish, you should choose a piece in which you can strenghten your personal voice.

  4. Reread the assignment for the piece of writing you chose and think of ways you can improve your work. • Assignments were Day 3 of Writing Prompts for Lessons 1-4.

  5. The author’s personal voice reveals his/her personality and attitude. • A writer’s choice of words and unique expressions help readers hear that voice.

  6. Reread composition and ask yourself… • Does the piece include personal thoughts, feelings, and attitudes? • Does the piece include vivid sensory details? • Do the sentences convey emotion through end punctuation?

Good writer’s use colorful, descriptive language to help readers form vivid pictures in their minds. • Revise composition by replacing general words with more specific ones. • Choose words that • are specific rather than general. • appeal to the senses. • help form a picture in the reader’s mind.

  8. Use references such as a thesaurus to help you choose precise words. • Review editing marks. • Make proofreader’s marks on paper. • Before create final copy of composition, make sure it is free of errors.

  9. Use these questions as you proofread. • Did I punctuate sentences correctly? • Are all my sentences complete? • Have I corrected all errors in spelling?

  10. Create final copies from your draft. • Write legibly. • Indent paragraphs.

  11. Listening and Speaking Strategies for Presenting Published Composition • Read your piece several times before presenting it. • Use a tone that matches the text. • Focus on the speaker. • Try to picture what the reader is describing.
