Minutes of 2018, Bill Gee • Old Business (from 2018 minutes) • Acquired six acres, cave rights and access easement from Chris Danuser • Ron Jaeger donated $6,000 • Loraine said value of land, cave rights, shaft & easement worth $200,000. County appraised at $194,000. • I requested a property tax exemption from the county which was granted. • Rescue, access and trip leader training procedures need to be updated. • Set up meeting at Silo with Rob Odenwald, Training Officer, Mid-County Fire Protection District (Jeff Page). • Board • Other old Business?

  5. Survey • Three survey trips since 2018 meeting • July 2018 - Bob Lerch, Joe Sikorski, Derik Holtmann, Josh Hafner and Dan Lamping went into Carroll River to check leads just upstream of the Turnpike. • May 2019 - Following the CCC Landowner Meeting, Bob Lerch, Joe Sikorski and Dan Lamping went intoUL2 (Convention Hall) to fix a blunder in the Land B4 Time survey • July 2019 - Tony Schmitt, Joe Sikorski, Josh Hafner, Derik Holtmann, Jeremy Weih and Dan Lamping went to Lower Thunder River to finish mapping the South Fork of DL7 and to check leads along the way. This passage came to an absolute end at points called "End Game" and "Game Over." • There still remains much work to be done and we still have a committed survey effort to finish it. Progress is being made on cartography.

  8. Fence At closing we were required by Rusty Clark to fence our 6 acres. But we have decided that may not be necessary. We could save $3000. CCC Sent $100 donation to LaDawna News since last meeting

Lessons from Tom Aley, Celebration of the Land • On April 26 and 27 Pic Walenta, Jim Helwig, and Rick Hines attended Tom Aley’s “The Celebration for the Land”, that marked the completion of the acquisition of 640 acres bringing the total owned to 3,500 acres! • Tom Aley’s Ozark Underground Laboratory now owns 3,500 acres in the recharge area. • Tom and his wife Cathy have identified 118 species in the two miles of passages making up Tumbling Creek Cave.  This is the most diverse cave fauna known in any American cave west of the Mississippi.  One species is the endemic Tumbling Creek Cave snail that was listed as endangered in 2001.  With so much documented life worth protecting Tom has been successful in obtaining millions of dollars of funding to preserve an important and beautiful part of the Ozarks.  • How many species are in 20 miles of Carroll Cave? • How many endemic species do we have?

Could be smaller if we need to reduce cost. • Cost: ?? • Possible wording but open to suggestions: • Honoring Chris Danuser, for his generous donation of land and cave rights. • Honoring Greg Fry – Supporter and friend of the CCC since day one. • Honoring Ron Jaeger – for his generous donation for land at the backdoor • Consider “In Recognition of” instead of “Honoring”
