  2. Expectations • Being prepared • Read 5 nights a week • Follow-up with students on homework, studying for vocabulary and spelling test • Sign Agendas and Friday Letters/Logs • Reinforce skills • Behavior • Encourage students to use resources to improve student achievement

  3. Science • Biomes – Terrestrial and Aquatic • Weather – Water Cycle, Temperature, Wind Speed & Direction, Weather Patterns, Jet Stream, and Collect Weather Data • Force & Motion • Matter & Energy • Genetics • Major Systems of the Human Body

  4. Biome in a Box • Due: December 17th (Tuesday) • I:\Shared Teachers\Fifth Grade\Todd, Rochelle\Science 5th\Ecosystems\Biome in a Box\Biome in a Box.doc

  5. Math • Learn multiplication facts • Learn division facts • Learn addition facts • Learn subtraction facts • Place value • Fractions • Decimals • Measurement

  6. Reading/Language Arts • At least 20 minutes a night • Summarize/Reading logs Writing – punctuation/capitalization • Find books based on interests (fiction or nonfiction, magazines, informational websites, sports magazines) • Per nine weeks – 3 chapter and 3 non-fiction • Text Evidence – Look back • Vocabulary

  7. Social Studies • Colonial life in the thirteen colonies • Major battles and wars • International trade between the US and other countries • Basic budget for spending and saving • Powers of government (executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government) • Constitution • Lifestyles of different ethnic groups (legends, ballads, games, folk tales, and art forms)
