  1. Open House 2014-15 Fifth Grade: Ms. Miklus

  2. Terrific Tiger Behavior • Students are expected to follow the 5 Tiger Rules at all times throughout the day. • Students who are exhibiting appropriate behavior in school situations will on occasion be rewarded with a Tiger Paw. • Students will be required to fill out a “Think Sheet” if they are not following the rules - These will be sent home and require a parent signature. • Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions regarding your child’s behavior.

  3. Reader’s Logs • 600 pages per marking • Many of your children will be able to complete their reading during the school day. • It sounds confusing, but it’s really simple.

  4. Reader’s Log continued • One log per book • One-two projects per marking period • If your child is struggling to complete this requirement, please let me know so I can help you solve this problem. • My goal is for them to love reading and help improve their comprehension.

  5. Math • Topic 1 was completed in their homeroom. The students will be grouped for the remainder of the year to help meet their needs. • We take a quiz at the halfway point of each topic and a test at the end of each topic. It is hard to determine test dates in advance so please check your child’s assignment book.

  6. Science and Social Studies • Mrs. Oneil will be your child’s science teacher. • Ms. Miklus will be your child’s social studies teacher. • Your child will have these classes every other day.

  7. Homework • Homework is always written on the homework board in each classroom. • Provide a quiet place for your child to complete his/her homework. • Homework should take 30-60 minutes most nights.

  8. Questions • If you need to contact me, you may do so via email. I check my email at least twice daily and will try to get back to you the same day. My email address is miklusp@nwlehighsd.org. You can also reach me by phone by calling 610-298-8661 and the office will connect you to voicemail.

  9. It is always so great to meet the parents of these wonderful students. Thank you for all you do!
