  5. Attendance • Please keep absences, tardies, and early dismissals to a minimum. We do a lot of hands-on activities that are difficult or impossible to replicate at home. • Always send a note after an absence. • Students have one day for each absence to make up assignments. • Call the office before 10:00 am if you wish to pick up make up work for that day.

  6. Agendas • Agendas will help keep students organized and keep parents informed. • Behavior and homework will be written in the agenda. • Check your child’s agenda each evening and initial at the bottom on the page. • Agendas are checked daily in the classroom.

  7. Homework • Homework should take no longer than 45 minutes. If it consistently takes longer, please let me know. • Students should read 20 minutes every night. This should be included in the 45 minutes of homework. • If spelling homework is not specified, students may study their words in any way that helps them. • Other homework may be given, but we will try to give more than one day to complete the assignment.

  8. Specials • We attend specials every day from 12:10 – 12:55 pm. Tuesdays and Thursdayswe will go to music class and library/computers. The other days we will go to P.E.

  9. Standardized Dress • Our district has mandatory standardized dress. We will be enforcing standardized dress at Coronado Village. • At Coronado Village: • Polo shirts or Oxford shirts, are acceptable as long as there are not negative or derogatory pictures, saying, or writings on the shirt • Shirt must be tucked in if it is longer than 6 inches past the waist • T-shirts are not allowed unless it has CVEs, JISDs, or college name on it (NOT NFL, NBA, Spurs, etc.). • Leggings are allowed only with a dress or skirt of proper length on top. • Skirts and shorts must be knee length or longer

  10. Grading • Grading Scale: • Assignments turned in late may lose points. • Progress Reports will be issued at the beginning of the fourth week of a grading period. • Report Cards will be issued after the sixth week of a grading period.

  11. Discipline • Students will follow CHAMP guidelines at all times – in the classroom and all common areas. • Discipline infractions will be reported in students’ agendas. • Conduct grades will be given in progress reports and report cards. Students will be given a grade of E, S, N, U based on the number of notations in their agendas.

  12. State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness Third Graders will take two STAAR tests this school year. • Mathematics – Tuesday, April 21 • Reading – Wednesday, April 22

  13. Conferences • Please sign up for a conference now if you have questions or concerns specific to your child. • Conferences will be scheduled for all students in the fall. • Phone conferences can be arranged if you are not able to come to school during school hours.

  14. Parties and Field Trips • We will have at least one field trip. • Volunteers must receive training. This can be done at school or online. • We will have three parties: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and End of the Year. • Birthday treats must be store bought. They may not be served until 2:00 • If you are passing out birthday invitations at school, there must be one for all boys/girls or all students in the class.

  15. How Can You Help? • Ask your child what they are learning in school. • Read the weekly newsletter and your child’s agenda. • Join PTP (Parent/Teacher Partnership) and attend the meetings. • Take the Volunteer Training Class so you can help out when your schedule allows. • Let me know if you have concerns or questions during the school year.
