  1. Welcome to Mrs. Nejaime’s First Grade Class Open House 2013-2014

  2. Our Schedule • 8:45-9:40 Math/Science • 9:45-10:25 Specials • 10:30-11:00 Math/Science cont. • 11:09-11:39 Lunch • 11:45-2:15 Literacy/Social Studies • 2:20-2:50 Organized Recess/Snack

  3. Team Nejaime News Homework packets will be given on Monday and are due on Friday. Spelling workbooks will be sent home to STAY. Pages will be assigned on Monday and are due on FRIDAY. Students are to rip out the pages and place in homework folders. They are not notto be done in 1 night. Math assignments will be daily. Math pages are to be ripped out and sent in daily. KEEP BOOKS AT HOME. Students are also required to complete 1 math and 1 reading lesson on I-Ready per week at home. Please check your child's homework folder for important information. Fluency folders are to be done daily and returned on Friday. These will begin later in the year. We will begin with the sight word lists. Students must read an AR book every day and take at least one AR test per week. AR will be part of your child’s grade. Students must have a book to read before school. Students may bring a small healthy snack.

  4. Behavior Plan Slam Dunk Behavior: Blue: First Warning Yellow: Second Warning Red: Third Warning Students must then fill out a behavior report, bring it home and have parents sign. If a student changes their color and it is not signed in agenda, they will start the following day on blue. And of course, always sign green. Let them know how proud you are of their wonderful first grade behavior.

  5. Arrival and dismissal • Students cannot be dropped off at school before 8:15 or picked up after 3:30. You will receive a Before Care charge for early drop off and an After Care charge for late pick up. No early dismissal after 2:30.

  6. Service Hours • Each family is required to complete 30 service hours. Hours can be done in the class or out of the classroom. Donations are for items requested only; ½ hour volunteer time will be given per donation. Maximum of 10 hours allowed for donations.

  7. Absences/Tardies • Please call the school within 48 hours of your child’s absence. Please refer to the school wide attendance policy to determine if an absence is considered excused. If a child is tardy the parent must sign them in at the front office.
