  2. What is community service? A method through which citizenship, academic subjects, skills, and values are taught.

  3. Relay For Life • Relay for life is a fundraiser and awareness program that honors and remembers those that have survived or passed from cancer.

  4. More about Relay For Life • The Freshman Year Experience and other groups came together to support the cause. Relay for Life was an awesome time to work together for the common good. • Our booth held games that were .50 to 1.00that all went to Relayfor Life.

  5. Special Needs Awareness Day • Special needs awareness day was a time for volunteers to come together and give children that did not have the same amount of privileges and attention as normal children would.

  6. More Special Needs Day • Each of the volunteers involved were assigned different booths like face painting, reading tent, frog pond, and the bounce house that gave each child the opportunity to enjoy themselves in which ever activity they liked the most.

  7. Why is community service important? • Community service is important because everyone should give back. We all live in communities and expect them to be a certain way but not one person can do it alone. A person takes pride in working on their community, it feels more like home.

  8. My involvement in other services • I also did Habitat for Humanity twice, which is a program that involves people coming together and building houses for families. It’s a great way to test your limits and do something great for another family.

  9. BENFITS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE • Provides quality education. • Enhances personalized education for students. • Teaches positive values, leadership, citizenship, and personal responsibility, and • Invites students to become members of their own community.
