Maintaining a healthy body. BY: Dayton Simpson. What is a healthy body?. A healthy body varies from individual to individual. A healthy body is best determined by looking at a comparison of height, weight, body fat ratio, fitness, diet and hydration. These are examples of healthy bodies.

  2. What is a healthy body? • A healthy body varies from individual to individual. A healthy body is best determined by looking at a comparison of height, weight, body fat ratio, fitness, diet and hydration. • These are examples of healthy bodies

  3. Different types of Unhealthy bodies • Underweight/Obese Drug related

  4. Unhealthy bodies usually lead to Obesity What is Obesity? • Obesity is an excess proportion of total body fat. A person is considered obese when his or her weight is 20% or more above normal weight. The most common measure of obesity is the body mass index or BMI. • "Morbid obesity" means that a person is either 50%-100% over normal weight, more than 100 pounds over normal weight, has a BMI of 40 or higher, or is sufficiently overweight to severely interfere with health or normal function.

  5. What causes obesity? • Obesity is caused by Age, Gender, Genetics, Enviornment, Physical Activity, Eating habits, Illnesses, and medication.

  6. Over sized meals, exercise, and the internet, video games. Ect. • You need to burn off the amount of calories you eat to maintain your weight

  7. What can happen to you if your obese. • Type 2 Diabetes • High blood pressure • High cholesterol • Heart disease • Sleep apnea and more.

  8. One of the biggest cause of obesity is an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise • It is important to get full well balanced meals.

  9. You can also have an unhealthy body by being underweight. • Underweight means that you weigh less than your body type, height, age and gender say you should be. • The way you see yourself is also important. Sometimes thinking that your too fat can lead you to be anorexic or bulimic.

  10. What can happen to you if your anorexic • Starvation • Bitter hair, nails, and Dry skin • Lowered pulse • Constipation • Heart Failures

  11. Ways to maintain a healthy body • Get a full 8 to 9 hours of sleep! Getting enough rest and sleep is necessary for our body to function properly and have total concentration • Try to eat breakfast everyday! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is important to take a full breakfast in order for us to gain the necessary energy and nutrients needed to function properly for the day ahead. • Getting regular everyday exercise. A regular exercise is beneficial to our body so as to make our body function properly and strengthen our immune system.. Those who exercise regularly are in better shape as well as those disciplined individuals are better to handle pressures in their lives.

  12. More Ways • Try not to eat between meals, it is better to avoid eating between meals as this will make us feel a full stomach that will tend for us to skip the next meal. The foods we eat in between meals are usually unhealthy like junk foods which are not good for our Body • Not Smoking, Cigarette smoking is unhealthy and would lead to lung and other health problems in the future. • Do not drink alcohol, Drinking alcoholic drinks is bad for our body and it will kill brain cells and you will loose concentration and coordination. it is important that we watch our alcohol intake.

How a healthy body will effect your health trangle. • Mentally you will have better self esteem and confidence in yourself. • Socially you will make more friends that can exercise with you and be there for motivation. • Physically you will start noticing muscles, feel stronger, look better, and make you live longer.

Facts • Over 30% of Americans are obese • Over 800 people die everyday from obesity • A person can live for a month without food but only a week without water. • Over 9,415,000 People die on average around the world from Smoking, Alcohol, Drugs, and Obesity. • Obesity is the 2nd most causes of death in the united states. • In the past 40 years obesity has tripled. If this continues ALL Americans will be obese at some time.
