  5. Open syllables: Open syllables have one vowel and the vowel is left open.

  6. Open syllables can be combined with closed syllables.

  7. Open syllables can also be combined with v-e syllables.

  8. There are no new syllable division rules. When one consonant is between two vowels, it might close in the first syllable it might go with the second syllable. OR

  9. We have to learn to be flexible and try both ways that a word might read. We say it this way!!
