  1. Welcome Back We would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. The children are back in school refreshed and ready to learn after the break. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with families and thank you once again for your continuous support. 01254 54851 Congratulations to our Chair of IEB Mr Kennedy who has been honoured with an MBE for his services to the community. • Reminders • School day begins at 8:50am and finishes at 3:05pm. Children break for lunch at 12noon. If your child is on home dinners, please ensure they are back at school by 12:45pm as lunch break ends at 12:55pm. • Key Stage 1 – Milk money is now due for Spring Term. Please send £3.50 with your child in an envelope with their name and year group on it. • If you have not already done so, please send your child’s PE kit into school. Please ensure you clearly label all clothing with your child’s name and class. Thank you. • As the weather is getting colder, please ensure your child comes to school with a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves. Please ensure they are wearing sensible black school shoes. • Healthy Schools – If your child brings a packed lunch, can you please send them into school with a healthy dinner. There has been a high number of children who have been bringing chocolates/crisp for their lunch. A small chocolate treat can be given to your child on Friday. Thank you. Club Exhibition Club Exhibition will take place on Monday 13th January 2014 – 8:15am to 8:30am and 3:15pm to 4:00pm. Places for all clubs will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Parent Ambassador Please note – The next Parent Ambassador Meeting on Thursday 16th January 2014 has been cancelled. New date to follow. Friday 10th January 2014 Newsletter Phonics Workshop Come along and join us at our phonics workshop starting next Wednesday (15th January 2014) 8:50am to 9:20am. These will continue every Wednesday for 4 weeks. Come and work with your child and try lots of fun ways to help with their phonics. Parent Governors Your child will have brought home a ‘Parent Governor Election’ form’. If you wish to stand for election as a parent governor, please submit the nomination form (PG/2) and return to school no later than Thursday 23rd January 2014. If there are more forms submitted than there are vacancies, there will be an election by secret ballot. Fantastic Friday – Friday 17th January 2014 Children who are on packed lunch or home dinners during the week have the option of having a school dinner on a Friday. This is at a cost of £1.90. They are; Reception – The Snail and The Whale group, Room on the Broom Group Year 1 – Imaan Younis, Jamal Bashir and Miss Sweetmore Year 2 – Hassan Nazir and Alisha Musa Year 3 – Jannah Ali and Iram Malik Year 4 – Faiqah Rehman and Mobasher Farooq Year 5 – Qasim Hussain and Rimika Sharma Year 6 –Adam Hussain and Zahra Seedat Welfare Star’s – Oliver Haworth in Reception and Aisha Shafiq in Year 1 A big well done to all of you. Teller of the Week All our Tellers this week have done a wonderful job letting the school know who the Gold Book winners were in their class. The ‘Teller of the Week’ this week goes to Armaan Ali in Year 3. Breakfast Club Children are welcome to attend Breakfast Club from 8:00am until 8:30am every morning. Breakfast club is £1 per child per day and everyone is welcome. Tuesday Treat next week will be ‘Cheesy Toasty’. PE Awards to be given out from next week … This week’s attendance award goes to Reception class . Well done Reception! Mathletics Award goes to Year 4 this week. Well done! House Point winners this week are Pearls. Well done!
