  1. Crazy and Wacky Trends of the 90s Trapper Keepers were a very popular type of folder in the 1990s. All of the kids wanted them! A favorite catch phrase of the 90s was from a Life Alert commercial. As morbid as it seems now, everyone knew exactly what “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!!” meant and it was parodied often. The Macarena was a dance craze that started in 1995. The song was played over and over at ball games, schools, and clubs. Everybody knew the song and danced right along! One of the top toys in the 1990s was Tickle Me Elmo—the hottest toy of 1996. It was so popular that several people were injured during the Christmas shopping season that year as frantic parents fought tooth and nail to get one of these toys. Hypercolor T-Shirts were very popular with teenagers in the 1990s. The shirts changed color when heat was applied.
