  1. Engineering Thursday, 02 January 2020

  2. Do you know the names of any of the parts of aeroplane?

  3. Do you know the names of any of the parts of aeroplane?

  4. TEEP Agree the Learning Outcomes Learning Objectives To understand the work of an engineering company: Airbus

  5. Learning Outcomes Progress – Identify the type of work that an engineering company does. Good Progress – Describe the type of work that an engineering company does Exceptional Progress – Compare and contrast the type of work that an engineering company does

  6. Airbus Airbus SE is a European corporation, registered in the Netherlands and trading shares in France, Germany and Spain. It designs, manufactures and sells civil and military aeronautical products worldwide and manufactures in multiple countries both inside and outside of the European Union. https://youtu.be/OaTRtau4sjA

  7. Products Airbus produce different products, these include: • Commercial Aircraft • Such as the double-deck A380 - the largest commercial aircraft flying today. • Helicopters • Like the H215M - a military helicopter that is rugged, fast and reliable. • Defence • For example the Zephyr - the first drone to fly in the stratosphere, the edge of space. • Space • Peru-SAT is a new satellite capable of looking at Earth from Space.

  8. Organisation Airbus has 129,442 employees (2017 figure) It has production and manufacturing sites in France, Germany, Spain, China, United Kingdom and the United States For example an Airbus site in the UK: Broughton has a workforce of 6,100 and its role is large component manufacture and sub-assembly, specifically for wing final assembly and equipping. A further 2000 people are employed on or about the site, performing ancillary activities in support of Airbus’ core operations. Broughton produces over 500 sets of wings a year, due to projected orders.

  9. Organisation Airbus’s many different sites each specialise in different things, different parts of aircraft, so they all have to work together to build complete aircraft. As an example the different parts of an A380 are made across Europe as shown here, with the final aircraft being put together in Toulouse, France:

  10. Write a fact file about Airbus, include the following topics: • Products they produce • How many people they employ, and where. Later you will add: • The different jobs that Engineers and others who work for airbus do. Use the following resources to help you find this information: • Printed copies of the slides • www.airbus.com • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus#Organisation • BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award Engineering Student Book

  11. Progress – Identify the type of work that an engineering company does. Good Progress – Describe the type of work that an engineering company does Exceptional Progress – Compare and contrast the type of work that an engineering company does
