  3. Classes Count!! Stress the importance of credits in high school If a student fails a class they fall behind for graduation- different from middle school

  4. CREDIT PRODUCTION • How are Credits Earned? • Every class that is passed with a D or better each semester earns 5 credits. • Students should be earning 30 credits a semester or 60 credits a year • How many credits are needed to graduate? • 230 credits needed • How will my student and I know how many credits have been earned? • Progress reports and final semester grades • Each year counselors deliver two classroom presentations to walk all students through reading their own transcript and understanding what they need to graduate.

  5. Schedule Changes • School policy allows level changes up to the first 5 weeks of the semester (only 2 weeks into 2nd semester) • For example: moving from World History Honors to World History College Prep • Elective changes are not allowed • For example: moving from Woodworking to Drawing and Painting • Teacher changes/requests not allowed

  6. Progress Reports and Grades • Progress report every 5-6 weeks • Final semester grades December and June. • Edline- students will receive code in their English class • Always contact teacher first with concerns about class and grade • Teacher contact info available on school website
