  1. Welcome Parents and Students Teacher Name Course Title

  2. Dear Parents, I am excited about working with your eighth grader during the upcoming school year. Some of our assignments will be fun and challenging. I believe that as we work together, all students can be successful. There are a few things you should know about English class this year.

  3. Grading Guidelines: 60% Daily/Homework Grades 40% Test/ Major Writing or Projects

  4. Tardy Policy: 1st Tardy: Warning 2nd Tardy: Call or Note Home 3rd Tardy: Office Referral

  5. Textbook: We will have a class set of Elements of Language, and Elements of Literature that will be used in class. Each student will be issued a textbook and Grammar Guide that they are to use at home for homework and studying.

  6. Homework: Homework must be ready and complete at the beginning of class. Homework assignments will be posted daily so they may be copied into the student planners.

  7. Supplies: 1 Folder with Pockets and Brads 1 Package of dividers (4 will be used) 1 Three ring binder (may use section of a large three ring binder if sharing binder with other classes) Notebook paper Pens and Pencil Student Planner and Composition Book

  8. Students are expected to do their own work. You learn by thinking, working hard, making mistakes, and practicing. Plagiarism and cheating are serious offenses and will not be tolerated. Copying someone else’s work, either daily or major, will result in a U in conduct and a failing grade on the assignment. A mistake is forgivable; cheating is NOT. • If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at ____________ or you may e-mail me at _______________.
