  3. the benefits of baby weighting. • Assess the health status of the child. • Assess the general condition of the child. • Assess the nutritional status of the child. Equipment • Baby scale • Small sheet or paper to cover scale. • Child's growth chart. • Alcohol swabs.

  4. Remember • Children aged 0-36 months should be weighted nude for accurate body weight determination. • Never turn your back to an infant on a scale.

  5. Types of baby scale.

  6. Performance • Explain procedure and its importance to the mother. • Wash Hands. • Prepare the needed equipments. • Determine child’s pervious weight, if available.

  7. Performance Cont. • clean the scale with alcohol swab. • Place light drape or paper on scale. • Calibrate scale to “0” position. • Ask the mother to bring other baby clothes similar to what the baby is wearing. • Ask the mother to put the baby on the scale.

  8. Performance Cont. • Hold hand slightly over infant while on scale. • Remove infant from scale and return infant to parent’s arms or crib. • Give feedback and teaching mother according to the result. • Wash hands and record weight on child’s growth chart by kilograms .
