  2. Assisted Suicide Intro • Assisted suicide should be legalized for terminally ill patients. • It’s already legal in Oregon. • It will end long term suffering. • It can help save others lives.

  3. Oregon • Since 1994 assisted suicide was legalized. • Passed the Oregon Death Dignity Act • A study was taken in 1994 in Oregon. • 73% of doctors supported assisted suicide.

  4. Long Term Suffering • Many terminal diseases cause significant pain. • 2%-30% of hospice patients reported that their pain was “severe” or “intolerable” • Friends and family members can experience pain from watching someone they love suffer.

  5. Helping Others • The terminally ill could participate in organ donation. • 18 people die per day waiting on organs • They could save someone’s life.

  6. Conclusion • It’s time to make a difference and help people who are suffering!
