  3. Vocational education will be a key feature of KS4 curriculum Vocational GCSEs to be introduced September 2002 Part One GNVQ not expected to be available after September 2001 Citizenship Studies to be introduced Changes at KS4

  4. Rationale to widen participation in vocationally related learning pre-16 to open up new progression routes to raise achievement Vocational GCSE

  5. Timescale Development between January and December 2001 Centres to have specifications in January 2002 Teaching to commence in September 2002 Vocational GCSE

  6. Equivalence Equivalent to 2 GCSEs ‘Double award’ Corresponding curriculum time Awarded 2 x A* - G grades Vocational GCSE

  7. Art & Design Business Engineering Health & Social Care ICT Leisure and Tourism Manufacturing Science Vocational GCSE (Double Award)

  8. ICT meets IT requirements Manufacturing and Engineering meet D&T requirements Science can be offered as an alternative to GCSE Science* * not in Wales or NI at KS4 Vocational GCSEs and National Curriculum

  18. External Assessment will be available in June series students may resit tests once external assessment contributes one-third to the final grade Vocational GCSE
