  1. Evaluation – Question 4 Who would be the audience for your media product?

  2. My target audience is people who are aged 16+ and who take an interest in the indie genre of music. This was my initial plan and I have stuck to it because I believe that my colour scheme will appeal to these people the most. The colour scheme of red, black, white and grey will appeal to this specific social group because they are quite simple colours. However the red makes the magazine stand out more as it is a bright colour. I believe that this reflects my target audiences’ attitude as the colours white and grey are quite calm and relaxed. On the other hand, the colour red portrays the fact that my target audience are young and full of life. The colours are very gender neutral which shows that my target audience consists of both male and female.

  3. I have made sure to attract my target audience in many different ways by including and developing codes and conventions of a music magazine to a standard that will appeal to my target audience. • On my contents page, I have used the same colour scheme as my front cover to reinforce the genre. I have also included a couple of different images to advertise what is featured within the magazine. This gives the readers a visual aid to prevent the text becoming overwhelming. The layer of my contents page is very simple so that my readers can find articles with ease rather than causing confusion.

  4. On my double page spread, I have consisted with the same colour scheme to help anchor the indie genre. The layout of my double page spread is also very simple. It consists of one image of the duo I had interviewed. This is located on the left page and it bleeds slightly through the centre of the two pages. This is typical of a professional music magazine. On the right page, there is three columns where the text for the article is located. The columns help keep the text neat. The drop quote is located in the middle of all of the text. This is to try and split up the text so that it is not too text-heavy. This will make it easier for my audience to read. The title of the article is simply just “Telegraph Road” this puts all the attention on the band.
