  1. ArcHydro 2 GEOG4650/5650 – 2009 S Week 5

  2. Longest Path • Generating longest flow paths associated to the catchments. • Less than 4 minutes processing time. • “LengthDown” – length from the start of the flow path to the basin outlet. • “DrianID” – the HydroID of the associated catchment.

  3. Attribute Table

  4. Longest Flow Path for Adjoint Catchments • Generate longest flow paths associated to the adjoint catchments. • Less than 1 minute.. • “DrainID” – HydroID of the associated adjoint catchment.

  5. Slope/Greater than 30 • Generate Slope DEM and slope greater than 30 • And slope greater than 30 and facing North. • Use 2BasinDEM (from Obama.mdb) for these processes. You may have to convert it to decimal places (or divided by 100), exported as 2BasinDEMDecimal to your own Obama.mdb (make it permanent, inside of Obama.mbd, change “Save As Type” to Personal Geodatabase Raster”) • Z-value issue. • Mean Slope = 12.55 %

  6. Greater than 30 and facing North • What is the area of “Slope > 30 %”? • What is the percentage of “slope > 30 and facing North”?

  7. Watershed Processing • Batch Watershed Delineation • Delineate watershed for points in a Batch Point feature class • Watershed Processing | Batch Watershed Delineation • BatchDone: 0-delineate, 1-do not delineate • SnapOn:1 – snap the point to the closest stream • Type: Outlet/inlet

  8. Batch Subwatershed Delineation • Delineate subwatersheds for all the points in a selected Point Feature Class. • Create the input Point Feature Class • Reset the tag BatchPoint in “Watershed Processing | Data Management” and set BatchPoint to Null. • IF BatchPoint was generated before, you need to reset Batch Point: • Select ApUtilities > XML Manager. • Go to HydroConfi>TemplateView>ApLayers>ApLayer(BatchPoint) • Right-click and select EditAttributes • Change the name from BatchPoint to BatchPointDefault (for example) and click OK • Close the XML Manager.

  9. Batch Watershed Delineation for Polygons • Delineate watersheds for selected polygons. • Use ArcCatalog to create a new polygon layer • Enter “BatchPoly” as creating poly inside your Obama.mdb. • Select UTMZone16 as the projected coordinate system. • Use Editor to digitize 3 polygons

  10. Drainage Area Centroid • Generate centroid of drainage areas as centers of gravity. • Longest Flow Path • Longest Flow Path for Watersheds • USGS method • Construct 3D Line

  11. Smooth 3D Line/Flow Parameters • 3D line has more vertices than the 2D line so that Z values are known along the line and not only at the vertices of the 2D line. • “Smooth 3D Line” – smoothes a 3D line oriented in the downstream direction • “Flow Path Parameters from 2D/3D Lines” • -Compute flow path length, slope and 10-85 slope and 10-85 points associated to the longest flow paths features.

  12. Network Tools • Generate geometric network for the use of Attribute Tools • Hydro Network Generation • Convert drainage features into network features • Create the associated geometric network. • Create relationship between HydroJunction and catchment feature classs.

  13. Hydro Network Generation • From Network Tools | Hydro.. • Warning sign, then move(copy this layer to the target workspace. • See handouts
