  3. The Mission of CACs Serve as a vehicle of empowerment for parents, community members and other stakeholders to improve the quality of education in their communities by creating, submitting and implementing a strategic plan.

The Journey • What progress has been made? • Completed our strategic planning process • Started parent engagement activities • Built strong relationships with educators, parents, and students. • What issues have risen? • Rolling attendance at CAC meetings • Overall planning and logistics • Fewer resources for implementation

Retreat Rules • Start and stop on time • 100 mile rule – turn off cell phone and beepers • Rank does not have its privileges today • Monitor your air time • Confidentiality – stuff stays here • Agree to disagree • Everyone participates, no one dominates • Place items not related to the agenda in a “Parking Lot” • All ideas are good • Spelling amnesty • Have fun

  7. Englewood Vision Statement for Education We seek to transform the current state of education through raising standards, expectations and empowering all community members – students, parents, organizations and businesses to serve as advocates for our youth.

  8. The Plan • Transform the quality of education in our community • Ensure all youth have access to high quality educational programs and community resources • Enable successful transitions to post-secondary, career development and changing future trajectories.

The Goals • Goal #1: • Ensure All Englewood Students Have Access to High Quality Educational Options from Early Childhood Through High School. • Goal #2: • Increase Parental/Caregiver Participation and Expand Support of the Educational, Social and Emotional Development of Englewood Students. • Goal #3: • Ensure All Schools Have Highly Qualified Administrators, Faculty and Staff Fully Invested in Our Community and Students. • Goal #4: • Ensure High Quality Early Childhood Program Options as a Foundation for Student Learning and Development.

The Goals • Goal #5 • Implement and Coordinate Middle School Instructional Programs Which Effectively Prepare Students for Success in High School. • Goal #6 • Ensure Student-Centered High School Options That Meet Individual Student Needs and Effectively Prepare for Post-Secondary Success. • Goal #7 • Establish More Inviting, Culturally-Relevant (e.g., race, gender, etc.) Learning Climates through Collaboration and Coordination of Instructional Programs. • Goal #8 • Increase Collaboration Between Schools, Community Organizations, Political Officials, Faith-Based Communities, Businesses, Residents, Parents and Students.
