  2. NOVA – who are we? • Six campuses • Annandale • Alexandria • Loudoun • Manassas • Woodbridge • Medical Education (Springfield)

  3. NOVA – who are we? For starters, we’re about the size of Virginia Tech 2008 : 64,454 unduplicated student head count, 27,725 FTES

  4. NOVA – who are we? We’re changing and growing rapidly - Spring 2009, total enrollment is 40,777, and a total of 24,087 FTE. Students are younger, and taking more classes – more of the traditional college student than in the past.

  5. NOVA – where are we going? Cooper, Robertson & Partners Architecture, Urban Design • 2010-2016 Capital Plan Even More Ambitious than 2008-2014 Plan • 1.5 Million SF of new space • 900K SF of renovated space • $1 .1 Billion between now and 2016

  6. Projects Underway Annandale Phase VI – 90,000 S.F. construction start in March Loudoun Phase III – 65,000 S.F., construction start in early 2010 Manassas Phase III – 55,000 S.F. construction start in early 2010

  7. Current Projects - Woodbridge Phase III 84,000 S.F. Academic Building Including a 20,000 S.F. Learning Resource Center A/E - Grimm+Parker CM Selection to be advertised in next few weeks

  8. Current Projects - Woodbridge Support Services Bldg. 8,000 S.F. Building for Facilities A/E – Perkins Eastman Design/Bid/Build Project – Bids due before end of 2009

  9. Current Projects – Annandale, Brault Building Renovation/Addition 28,000 S.F. Renovation, 20,000 S.F. Addition to Administration Building A/E – Cole and Denny CM Selection likely in 2009

  10. Current Projects – Alexandria, Tyler Building Replacement • 80,000 S.F. Academic Building to • Replace Existing Elementary • School Building. • A/E – Moseley Architects • CM selection likely in 2009

  11. Current Projects – Loudoun Higher Education Center Up to 105,000 S.F. Academic Building, Jointly Occupied With a Four-Year Institution 40,000 S.F. NOVA Portion – A/E advertisement in next few weeks.

  12. Upcoming Capital Projects Woodbridge Workforce Development Center – 55,000 S.F. Classroom Building College Wide Early Alert Warning System – Design Complete, Awaiting Funding - $4 million Alexandria Bisdorf Phase II Renovation – 60,000 S.F. Academic Building Woodbridge and Manassas Renovations of Existing Academic Buildings – 168,000 S.F

  13. Stimulus Package? NOVA was asked to provide a list of projects, but hasn’t heard anything further.

  14. BUDGET ISSUES? Richmond Times Dispatch reports that the estimated deficit for this year is between $2.9 and $3.2 billion, but may not go higher. IMPACT ON NOVA? We just don’t know.

  15. BUDGET ISSUES? • Six-Year Capital Plan Outlay Advisory Committee Secretary of Finance, Directors of DPB, DGS, SCHEV, and House and Senate Appropriations Committees They will make recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly on projects which will go forward IMPACT ON NOVA? We just don’t know.
