Positives • Greater community awareness • A greater understanding of planning for area • Joint working with Councils • Greater interaction with community • Working as a team • Engagement of individuals • Spin offs • Help from Cornwall Council and others • Now a library of documents building up

  4. Negatives • Time commitment (greater than anticipated) • Apathy, will anyone vote? • Developer pressure • Concerns of Layman v Barrister at examination • “Consulting” at sub zero temperatures

  5. Be Aware of Timescales pre submission to referendum 7-9 months. Careful of CIL “benefits” Remember adequate consideration of social balance. Wide range of expertise required

  6. What would I change • Correctly budget • Employ professionals • Early consideration of “hooks” for community • An earlier round of consultation?

  7. Is it worthwhile? • Yes
