  2. Youth • Daniel Boone was born on October 22, 1734, in Pennsylvania. • He was the sixth of eleven children. • As a youth, Boone spent the majority of his time hunting.

  3. Soldier • During the French and Indian War, Boone served with the British. • Boone married Rebecca Bryan, in 1754. • Boone acquired a living, during this period of his life, as a hunter.

  4. Kentucky • On September 25, 1773, Boone packed up his family to establish the first British colony in Kentucky. • Boone also participated in Dunmore's War, which took part in Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky.

  5. Boonesborough, Kentucky • Richard Henderson hired Boone to blaze the Wilderness Road. • In doing so, he blazed his road to the Kentucky River. • After that, he created Boonesboroughand Harrodsburg, in 1775.

  6. American Revolution • This brought a chance for the Indians to get back at settlers, since the British would ally with them. • By 1776 the majority of Kentucky people had either left Kentucky or had moved into one of the fortified towns made by Boone

  7. Boone’s capture • In February 1778, Boone was captured by Shawnee Indians. • He was later adopted into the Shawnee tribe, but escapes back to Boonesborough.

  8. Death • Boone died on September 26, 1820.
