Mrs. Barbieri's Kindergarten Class Schedule 7:50-8:30 Check-in, Lunch Choice, Morning Work 8:30-8:50 Calendar 8:50-10:15 Guided Reading/Daily 5 10:15-10:30 Restroom Break/Snack 10:30-11:00 SMART Phonics 11:00-11:40 Writer’s Workshop 11:40-12:20 Math Frameworks/Math Tubs 12:32-1:02 Lunch/Table E 1:05-1:25 Recess 1:30-1:55 ELA Frameworks/Shared Reading 1:55-2:00 Pack up 2:05-2:50 Specials 2:55-3:00 Prepare for dismissal *Science and Social Studies will be incorporated into reading.

Class Behavior Plan • Rules • Follow directions the first time. • Raise your hand to speak or get out of your seat. • Keep hands, feet, and materials to yourself. • Bring your school supplies everyday. • Treat others the way you want to be treated. Consequences • First time – verbal warning • Second time – lose a penny • Third time – lose a 2nd penny, note home, and time out at recess • Fourth time-phone call home Rewards • Pennies • Special treats from the teacher (sticker, candy treat, etc.) • Good behavior note sent home • Trip to the treasure box (10 cents=trip to the treasure box) • Team Reward- table points • Group Reward- Warm Fuzzy Jar • Secret Shining Stars (can be earned when walking in the hallway) • Be a Bucket Filler!!

Curriculum • Reading • Harcourt Trophies/SMART/ELA Frameworks Phonics • SMART Phonics Math • Houghton Mifflin Math • Math Frameworks, Math Tubs, and Calendar Math Science • Houghton Mifflin/Hands-on activities Social Studies • Sundance-Newbridge Writing • Six Traits, Writer’s Workshop, Journals, ELA Frameworks (Reading Response Journal) • Daily Five • A structure that allows all children to do meaningful work independently as the teacher works with small groups and individual students • Literacy Café • Comprehension; Accuracy; Fluency; Expand Vocabulary (teaching strategies to support these goals)

Assessments CRT • Comprehensive Reading Test that is given two to three times a year Standards Based Reporting • Weekly assessments that correlate with report card/common core standards (scores 1, 2, 3, 4) AIMS • Administered two or three times a year; assesses letter and sound fluency and phonetic reading fluency GKIDS • Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (aligned with CCGPS) • On-going throughout the school year Reading Running Records • Reading fluency test administered several times a year to assess reading fluency
