  8. Kindergarten Curriculum

  9. Early Out Days • On the first Wednesday of each month, there will be NO Kindergarten classes.

  10. Extra Classroom Help • Students receive one on one assistance or small group help with speech, fine motor skills and/or gross motor skills from our classroom PUF educational assistant, Mrs. Kim Green.

  11. Speech Language Pathologist A Speech Language Pathologist helps children with: • Articulation • Language • Fluency • Voice • They also perform hearing screenings and look at the structure of a child’s mouth, as a standard procedure.

  12. Occupational Therapy in Kindergarten • An occupational therapist is available to screen and test your child if there are any concerns or issues with fine motor skills. • What areas does an Occupational therapist look at? • printing • pencil grip • hand preference • coordination and strength for manipulation • cutting • drawing shapes and figures • Effectively using 2 hands (zipper, buttons, shoelaces)

Visual perception: • Visual recognition of letters • Printing letters in order • Spacing and positioning letters on lines • Building things (crafts, toys) • Being able to find an object in clutter Self help skills: • Independence at arrival and dismissal • Independence with toileting and eating Sensory Processing: • Strategies to help children remain alert and focused • Coping strategies for children who are hypersensitive to sound, touch, etc.

  15. ECS Visit!!! • On Wednesday, June 4th we would like to invite the Kindergarten children to come and visit our classroom and us. • Times will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. or from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Please plan to stay with your child during this time.

  16. What will September look like? • During the week of August 25th, you will receive a call informing you of when your child’s staggered entry day will be. • Staggered entry week is Tuesday, September 2nd – Friday, September 5th . • Kindergarten begins for all on Monday, September 8th.

  17. ECS school supply list can be found on the school website. Please bring school supplies to the staggered entry day • ECS school fees will be $66.00
