    1. GO Switch leverless limit switches have been the foundation of our company for over 40 years.GO Switch leverless limit switches have been the foundation of our company for over 40 years.

    2. GO Switch Training Agenda Why GO Switch is special Competition overview GO Switch products Square Round Power Where to sell them

    3. Our experience Factory Automation Automotive Cement Diecasting Steel Tire & Rubber Tool & Die Process Automation Biotech Chemical Food & Beverage Hydrocarbon Mining Oil & Gas Petrochemical Power Pulp & Paper Water/Wastewater

    6. GO Switch Common Features Standard temperature: -40oF to 221oF Repeatability: 0.002” Response time: 8 ms Dry contact: Consume no power to operate No voltage drop or leakage current Can wire AC or DC, NO or NC Highest volt/current rating on the market for prox switch Simple device - Intrinsically Safe

    7. GO Switch Common Features Permanent magnets: -1% every 100 years Options galore: Stainless Steel, Epoxy, Exotic SPDT, DPDT, Quick Disconnect Explosion Proof, Hi Temp, SubSea Target Magnets increase sensing range Date coded for trace ability

    8. GO Switch Common Features Heavy duty dry contacts Excellent for both high and low loads Vibration resistant, high contact pressure Self-cleaning with wiping action Contact ratings are for resistive loads Inductive loads app 1/2 published ratings

    9. Competition: Technologies Mechanical: Lever arm linked to the switch mechanism Solid State: Electrically created magnetic field measures change in magnetic field to trip switch Reed: Glass encapsulated switch mechanism tripped by a magnetic target GO is a hybrid technology that combines the advantages of each of the above with none of their drawbacks

    10. Competition: Limit Switch A Limit Switch is an electrical mechanical device that that provides an electrical signal through a set of contacts. When the object to be sensed comes in contact with an actuator, this mechanical motion closes (makes) or opens (breaks) a set of contacts Limit Switches are often applied because They do not require external power Have a very wide voltage and current range Do not have leakage current Have a higher temperature range than solid state sensors Disadvantages Require contact with object to be sensed Limited sensing distance Mechanical wear

    11. Competition: Mechanical Limit Switches Lever arms bend, break and wear Some require up to 32 in lbs to operate GO is proximity - no contact, wear, torque Multiple moving parts to fail: Lever arms, rollers, springs, gears GO has only one moving part - no metal to metal contact making it move Hole(s) with gaskets invite moisture and dust GO is completely potted and sealed

    12. Competition: Mechanical Limit Switches Moisture problems are common: Contact chamber not potted Gasket dries, cracks, and fails GO is completely potted and sealed Repeatability is poor - lever stroke varies GO is repeatable to 0.002” for life Maintenance headache GO is maintenance free

    13. Competition: Proximity Switches Traditional “prox” switches are solid state devices. They use inductive sensing technology to detect the presence of absence of a metallic target Many shapes and sizes Square, rectangular, cylindrical, puck, etc Can be very small Works better in tough environments as compared to Photoelectrics and Limit Switches Low cost

    14. Competition: Inductive Proximity Sensors Solid state - consumes power to operate GO is dry contact - consumes no power Two piece construction is fragile GO is one piece stainless or brass Must stock 4 models for AC, DC, NO, NC GO - one model does it all Not explosion proof GO is Class I Div I all groups

    15. Competition: Inductive Proximity Sensors IS barrier brand sensitive GO is simple device - use any barrier GO hermetic seal is Non-Incendive Temperature sensitive - sensing varies GO to 400oF with stable sensing Many wiring precautions GO handles high loads - no voltage drop or current leakage - series or parallel

    16. Competition: Reed Switches A Reed Switch consists of two magnetic contacts when approached by a target magnet, attract each other and close a circuit. Contacts are contained in a gas filled glass tube Can be packaged in many different sized enclosures Designed to switch lower currents and can not handle high current loads

    17. Competition: Reed Switches Switch mechanism often unreliable GO is proven to 100s of millions of cycles Susceptible to vibration and bounce GO contact pressure is much greater Glass tube hermetic seal is fragile GO herm seal is virtually unbreakable Require magnet to operate GO needs only ferrous metal

    18. GO Switch Square - 10/20 Series The original Leverless Limit Switch Invented in 1950’s by CR Marcum Workhorse of the industry Same operating principle today Simple but very clever Materials upgraded through the years
