4. 4 1. Branch the Top 10% of the AD OML with their first basic branch choice (May be detailed in FY09) 2. 6. 6 While these numbers are only examples (using this years cohort) they represent how the cohort is branched. In the green bar (middle) you see the entire cohort for the year. Everyone is included in the National OML. Moving to the right of the green bar, the 2825 represents the active duty eligible population. It is determined by removing the following individuals from the National OML: - Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD contracted and those non-GRFD volunteering for RFD) - Educational Delay selectees - Army Nurses (and individuals selected by Medical Service Corps to be in the Allied Medical Specialty fields) This is the active duty eligible population: - Active duty (AD) is not guaranteed - The number of Cadets selected for AD will not exceed the number of allocations determined by the Army, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1 - All Cadets/commissionees exceeding allocations for AD must go into the reserves (USAR or ARNG). For the past several years, the number requesting AD has exceeded the number of allocations for active duty. If more Cadets ask for active duty (AD) than the number of AD allocations, the remaining Cadets (determined by OML) will also go Reserve Forces Duty. (represented by the light blue boxes (283). They will be notified so that they can pursue a VHR/LOA. - Cadets from SMCs that request AD and are recommended for AD by their PMS will receive AD NOTE: The Army Nurses (184) and the Active Duty (2542) make up the total active duty number of 2429. Moving to the left of the green bar, the 1327 represents those that have Guarantee Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) contracts and those non-GRFD that have volunteered for Reserve Forces Duty. The Reserve Component branch and unit requirements are determined by the Chief, Army Reserve and the Director, Army National Guard. Normally those with a VHR/LOA will receive their branch based on that VHR. The Reserve Duty column also includes those that exceeded the AD allocations and were referred to the reserve components. (represented by the light blue boxes (283). The Reserve Component Selection and Branching will have a fundamental change for the FY10 Board based on DA G-1 Guidance: For all Cadets selected for reserve duty their component will be determined by the board, based on their type of GRFD scholarship, ranking on the OML, and component/branch preference. Those that are on a dedicated ARNG GRFD will be selected ARNG Component for all others (USAR or ARNG) will be determined by OML and cadet preference. No USACC mission (AD, USAR, or ARNG) will be exceeded unless all meet mission. Branch determination will be secured within 30 days of Board Results by VHR or LOA in the component awarded by board.While these numbers are only examples (using this years cohort) they represent how the cohort is branched. 7. 7 FY 10 ROTC National OML Results Total in the FY10 Cohort at the time of Selection and Branching Board was 4,714, this is less four Cadet�s that were identified for commission review by the Commission Review Board which sat 16-18 SEP 09. Total DMG�s exceeded 20% of total by 4 due to �stand-by� additions to Cohort and adjustments to some �ECP� LT�s OMS scores due to previous omission of MSIII rankings on their OMS. Over the 91 FY10 Cohort Cadets that went to the ED-Delay Board 83 were selected. The remaining 8 were returned to Cohort for component/ branch selection. Just prior to Selection and Branching board DA increased ROTC AD mission by 50 to 2450, an additional 5 AD allocations were authorized for ED-Delay non-selected who fell above AD Selection Line. Total of 604 Cadets were referred to Reserve Forces Duty. AR By OML, 59 Cadets (50%) that asked for AR, received AR in the first 50% of the allocation and were NOT charged an ADSO By OML, 18 Cadets (15%) that asked for AR with ADSO and were in the top half of the OML, received AR (between 50% and 65% of the allocation) and were changed an ADSO Cadets between when IN filled to 65% and the middle of the AD OML could not be branched IN. If possible they were branched in their 2nd or 3rd choice. If not, they were branched in Step 4. 41 Cadets (35%) that asked for AR with an ADSO and were in the bottom half of the OML, received AR (between 65% and 100% of the allocation) and were changed an ADSO Ex. CM By OML, 31 Cadets that asked for CM, received CM in the first 50% of the allocation and were NOT charged an ADSO, one additional Cadet ADSO�ed and received CM with ADSO. When the bottom of the AD OML was reached, only 52% of the CM branch allocation was filled. The remaining 48% of the allocation was filled by the DABM and branching board. NOTES. SC, AG, FA, AD, QM, OD, TC and CM did not fill to 65% until below the middle of the OML so no Cadets were skipped All branchs filled to 50% but only OD did not have an ADSO for Branch. Our original allocation was 135, after the top half of the OML filled the branch to 65%, their were not enough cadets in the bottom half of the OML who ADSO�ed to fill the remaining 35%. 5 Additional Cadets from the Univ. of North Dakota federally funded aviation program additionally received AV (by law). MI, SC, FI: After the branching board, branch detail requirements required MI, SC and FI Cadets that received their branch with ADSO to have their ADSO removed so that they could be branch detailed. Volunteers were considered first, but requirements forced non-volunteers to be selected by the board.
