  3. 12+ Community Baseball 12/13 & 14/15 Year-old Community League • Teams will be selected through a draft. All players must attend the outdoor evaluation on April 14-15 (April 21-22 rain date). • Practices will begin in late April. Games will run from May 14th through mid-July. Scheduling meeting is April 16th. • 12/13 practices and games will be at Bandimere, Lake Ann and Diethelm • 14/15 practices and games will be at Bandimere, Lake Susan, and Diethelm • League will consist of Chaska, Eden Prairie, Shakopee, Edina and Chanhassen Community League Uniforms • Pants, jerseys and hats – provided by Association • Pant sizing -- April – email with day/time forthcoming • Coaches will distribute uniforms (when teams are formed)

Key Dates 12+ Community Baseball 16-18 year-old Community League • This is a program for players who do not participate in Legion baseball or would like to continue playing baseball with their friends over the summer. • Practices will begin beginning of May. Games will run from mid-May through late June with an end of season tournament that runs through mid to late July. • League will likely consist of Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Edina and other nearby communities • 16-18 practices and games will be at Bandimere Park, Lake Susan and Diethelm Park • Volunteer Checks are required at this Age Level. Community League Uniforms • Pants, jerseys and hats – provided by Association • Pant sizing -- April – email with day/time forthcoming • Coaches will distribute uniforms (when teams are formed)

How Do I Become a Coach? 12-18 Community Baseball • Go to chanhassenathleticassociation.org • Click Register Online and submit 2018 BB/SB Head Coach and Assistant Coach Application - Specify age and level • Go to Safety tab and complete concussion training (required every 3 years) • Volunteer hours for head coach and two assistants and one manager.

  6. 12+ Metro Baseball • TEAM COMPOSITION – Based on Current Registrations • 12-year-olds: 4 Metro (AAA, AA, A, A) • 13-year-olds: 3 Metro (AAA, AA, A) • 14-year-olds: 2 Metro (AAA, AA) • 15-year-olds: 2 Metro (AAA, AA)

Key Dates 12+ Metro • 13s Tryouts: Arrive 30 minutes before tryout time! • Eastern Carver County Athletic Center (THE DOME) • Saturday, 17 March @ 4:15PM-6:00PM; Sunday, 18 March 7:30AM-9:15AM • 14s Tryouts: Arrive 30 minutes before tryout time! • Eastern Carver County Athletic Center (THE DOME) • Saturday, 17 March @ 1:00PM-2:30PM; Sunday, 18 March @ 2:30PM-4:30PM • 15s Tryouts: Monday, 19 March – Wednesday, 21 March (High School Tryout Times) • Team Announcements • 13-14 Metro - Goal to announce teams by 23 March, 2018 • 15 Metro - Goal to announce teams 2 April (14s may follow if team numbers change) • Metro Season Begins - Monday, April 23 (weather permitting) Metro Uniforms • Pants (2 long), reversible jerseys and fitted hats – provided by Association • Sizing @ Pioneer Ridge Middle School • Monday, 12 March (5-6 pm – 9 year olds ONLY; 6-9 pm – all Tournament & Metro) • Tuesday, 13 March (5-8 pm – all Tournament & Metro; 8-9 pm – 9 year olds ONLY) • Knickers available through Lakeside Promotions (Greg Hastings) • Optional 2nd jersey – TBD by coaches after teams are formed – through Lakeside Prom. • Have kids wear shorts & bring checkbooks if you plan to purchase additional items

How do I become a 12+ Metro Coach? • Go to ChanhassenBaseball.com • Complete the concussion training • Go to Baseball Info > Concussion Training & follow steps • Register Online as a coach • Register > Register as a Coach • Complete the Coach Application & Background Check • Attend coach interview (expect email from Jeff Maschka) on Wednesday,7 March through Friday, 9 March • Qualification based on combination of interview feedback and prior year parent evaluations • Selection made by Age Director in conjunction with the Player Agent & VP Baseball • Only the head coach will be notified & present for team selection • Assistant coaches to be selected by head coach • All assistants must be registered, with a background check & concussion training on file • All managers must be registered as a key volunteer • Three coaches and one manager per team each receive 8 hours volunteer credit

Overview - Tryouts and Team Selection • Player Agent role • Tryout dates – Saturday, 17 March & Sunday, 18 March – Two required dates for tournament team tryouts • Tryout logistics – 2018 Bats: USA Stamp of Approval – Attire: No club baseball or team level specific gear – Parents (Drop-off / Pick-up) – No Volunteer Check, No Team Assignment • Volunteers needed – see website • Tryout numbers: 13s – 3814s - 2915s -24 • Goals: – Player Agent – best alignment of players and teams for player success and retention – Parents – lead by example (tryouts, team selection, season) – Season – challenge players appropriately, have fun and retain

How do I volunteer? • Volunteer deposit • $150 volunteer deposit will be collected from every family via check • Everyone needs to pay a volunteer deposit to be placed on a team • If you have applied as a coach, manager, assistant manager or if you have completed some hours, you still must provide the check for the volunteer fee • Checks will be destroyed at end of the season if volunteer hours are completed • Coach Pitch 5/6 families are not required to complete volunteer hours or submit a check unless you have a kid in the 7/8 or older program • To Sign Up for Volunteer Hours • http://chanhassenathleticassociation.org/ • Go to Baseball & Softball • Click on Volunteer Information • Click on Volunteer Opportunities • Volunteer expectations • 8hours per family (not per player) • Spontaneous help is always welcome, but does not qualify as volunteer hours • Volunteer hours are recorded by Volunteer Coordinator or via the CAA website • When you apply to become a volunteer, you give our organization the right to conduct necessary background checks To qualify for volunteer hours, the job(s) must be posted on Volunteerspot. If it is not in volunteer spot, then it does not qualify. • CHANHASSSEN CHALLENGE HOSTED 1-3 June, 2018is great opportunity to receive credit!!

  12. How Can I Support The Program? Storm Apparel -- CAA endorsed fundraising program • Available through Lakeside Promotions • Sweatshirts, shirts, jackets, Easton bat bags (backpack-style and rolling), batting helmets • All items will have the Storm logo • Lakeside Promotions will be on-site at parent meeting (today) and the following days/times (Pioneer Ridge Middle School): • Monday, 12 March: 5-9 pm • Tuesday, 13 March: 5-9 pm • Wednesday, 21 March: 6-8 pm • Show your Storm spirit and help raise money for our programs! • The Dugout Club • The Dugout Club is a booster club created to support diamond sports within the Chanhassen High School boundaries. • The Dugout Club will be selling a limited number of bricks to build the 2018 Stadium Walk at the Chanhassen High School Stadium. • Order at dugout-club.org

Team Sponsorships We are seeking TEAM SPONSORSHIPS for Baseball and Softball! • $350 per team • Provides much needed funds for our program • Keeps fees down for participants • Field improvements • Team sponsorships help CAA Baseball/Softball provide financial scholarships so every kid can play. $24,000 in financial scholarships have been granted since 2014.
