Course Registration Process • Jan 27 : Teacher recommendations • Feb 3 : Parent/Student requests • Feb 13 - 24: BDHS counselors meet with students individually to schedule classes for next year • Feb 27 : BDHS counselors begin to visit feeder middle schools to register rising 9th grade students • June 1 : “Dummy” schedules mailed • June 15 : Final date to request a schedule change

Registration Process cont. • All students (9th through 12th) must sign up for 7 courses plus 2 alternate courses. • Juniors and Seniors may choose to sign up for an Office Aide position (no credit) and/or Early Release at this time, forms are available online • Students will not be able to sign up for specific Teacher Aide positions until September 2012 but may turn in Teacher Aide Intent form now (available online) • A parent/guardian must sign any Office Aide, Early Release and Teacher Aide Intent forms

Advanced Studies Diploma Requirements for Seniors(entered 9th grade in 2009-2010) • 4 English • 4 Math (Alg I pt 1 does count as a math credit) • 4 Science • 4 History • 3 Foreign Language (or 2 years of 2 different languages) • 2 Health/PE • 1 Fine Art or Career/Tech Ed elective • Additional electives • Total of 24 credits

Standard Diploma Requirements for Seniors(entered 9th grade in 2009-2010) • 4 English • 3 Math (Alg I pt 1 does count as a math credit) • 3 Science • 3 History • 2 Health/PE • 1 Fine Art or Career/Tech Ed elective • 6 additional electives (including 2 sequential electives) • Total of 22 credits

Advanced Technical Diploma Requirements(entering 9th grade in 2012-2013) • 4 English • 4 Math (Alg I pt 1 does not count as a math credit) • 4 Science • 4 History • 3 Foreign Language (or 2 years of 2 different languages) • 2 Health/PE • 1 Economics and Personal Finance • 1 Fine Arts or Career/Tech Ed elective • 3 Career/Tech Ed electives from same career concentration • Total of 26 electives

Standard Technical Diploma Requirements(entering 9th grade in 2012-2013) • 4 English • 3 Math (Alg I pt 1 does not count as a math credit) • 3 Science • 3 History • 2 Health/PE • 1 Economics and Personal Finance • 1 Fine Arts or Foreign Language • 4 Career/Tech Ed electives from same career concentration • 1 additional elective • Total of 22 credits

SOL and Research Paper requirements • Advanced Diploma – English Reading, English Writing, 2 Math, 2 Science, 2 History, 1 Other • Standard Diploma – English Reading, English Writing, 1 Math, 1 Science, 1 History, 1 Other • Students entering a VA high school after 9th grade have different requirements • All PWC students must complete the Research Paper during English 11 in order to graduate

  15. Special Program Registration • Special Education – registered by case manager and counselor • English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL) – registered by ESOL teacher and counselor

  18. Courses requiring an application • Foundations of Agriculture • Journalism • Yearbook (Photojournalism) • All CTE and Specialty Programs ** Any student who takes at least one AICE or AP class must have the AICE/AP Contract signed by both the parent and student (available online)
