  8. Unit 5: Weather Snow– soft, white flakes that fall from clouds when it is cold

  9. Unit 5: Weather Sleet-- icy mixture of rain and snow

  10. Unit 5: Weather Hurricane– storms with strong winds and heavy rain that form over the ocean

  11. Unit 5: Weather Tornado– a storm with strong winds that whirl and travel in a funnel-shaped dark cloud

  12. Unit 5: Weather Ground– the ground is made up of dirt and is the solid surface of the Earth

  13. Unit 5: Weather Ocean– a large body of salt water that covers most of the Earth’s surface

  14. Unit 5: Weather Flood– happens when a lot of water flows over normally dry land (this can happen when it rains a lot)

  34. Unit 5: Weather Thermometer– an instrument used to measure the temperature

  35. Unit 5: Weather Degrees– units used to measure temperature

  36. Unit 5: Weather Wind sock– a sleeve, open on both sides, used to measure wind direction

  46. Unit 5: Weather Warning– a notice that danger is coming

  47. Unit 5: Weather Hour– 60 minutes (there are 24 hours in one day)

  48. Unit 5: Weather Eye– a part of your body that you use to see. It can also mean the center of something (such as the eye of a hurricane)
