  1. Around the Horn • Directions: Each group will get 1 minute to state their case for the topic. A well thought out argument gains points and a poor argument or irrelevant one will lose points at Mr. G’s discretion. TOPI CS It would be a good idea to take notes on this discussion (it just may help when you start working on your essay).

  2. Dimension • “There is no difference between Time and any of the three dimensions of Space except that our consciousness moves along it” (Wells 3). • “We are always getting away from the presents movement. Our mental existences, which are immaterial and have no dimensions, are passing along the Time-Dimension with a uniform velocity from the cradle to the grave” (5). • How believable does the Time Traveller’s explanation of time as a 4th dimension sound?

  3. Nameless • Medical Man, Psychologist, Editor, Time Traveller • Why do you believe Wells chose to give most of his characters jobs to identify them instead of name? • What is the effect of not naming the characters?

  4. Believability • “But the Time Traveller had more than a touch of whim among his elements, and we distrusted him” (13). • How does Wells characterize the Time Traveller to make his audience doubt him?

  5. Questions • “I looked up again at the crouching white shape, and the full temerity of my voyage came suddenly upon me” (26). • What are the most pertinent questions to ask before going to the future?

  6. Impressions • Description on page 26 • What are your first impressions of the future the Time Traveller found?
