  2. Why use an uninterruptible power supply ? • Failure of the supply voltage causes unwanted machine and plant status which means risks: • Hazard to health and life • Machine damage, tool fractures, rejects and data losses • Minimization of downtime • Critical loads (e.g., for security functions) must remain powered with 24 V even when the power network fails.

  3. SITOP DC-UPS 40A • For combination with SITOP power • Single phase 24 V/20 A • Three phase 24 V/10 A, 20 A, 30 A or 40 A • Can supply load currents of up to 120 A for brief periods of time • Allows for the selection of a power supply without regard to the inrush current • 99% efficiency in standby, parallel operation • Patent circuitry • Signaling • Battery management

  4. SITOP DC-UPS 15A • For SITOP power, starting at 5 A • Optional with RS 232 interface and SW tool • Adjustable bypass times (5, 15, 25 to 315 sec) make plant configuration easier. • Signaling • Battery management • Battery monitoring • Battery backup • Battery service lifeBattery change only when necessary, and not as preventive measure (e.g., once per year)

  5. SITOP DC-UPS 40A • Maintenance-free lead batteries • Suitable for DIN rail or wall mounting • Battery module • 24 V/10 A, 3.2 Ah • 24 V/20 A, 7 Ah • 24 V/25 A, 12 Ah • 24 V/15 A, 2.5 Ah With extended temperaturerange from -40° to +60° C

  6. 7. SITOP DC-UPS 15A software • Can be used on 15 A device with RS 232 interface • Can be run under Win95/98, WinNT 4.0 and Windows2000 • Further processing of allsignals of the UPS module • Power-down function for24 V industrial PCs • Monitoring of the communication of USV module • Can be downloaded as freewarefrom the SITOP homepage • www.ad.siemens.de/sitop/index_76

  8. SITOP DC-UPSCustomer advantages • Modular layout for: • Selective backup of critical loads • Upgrades • Easy DIN rail mounting • Integrated battery management ensureslong life for 24 V loads and batteries. • Charging voltage (approx. 27 V) regardless of24 V power load voltage • Built in discharge protection • Battery monitoring • High degree of security and reduce downtimes thanks toextensive monitoring and signaling

  9. SITOP DC-UPSCustomer advantages • Ideal link to higher-level control systems thanks tooptional RS 232 interface • Suitable for backing up 24 V DC industrial computers • With high-temperature battery, can be used up to an ambient temperature of +60° C

  10. SITOP DC-UPSTypical applications • Machine tool manufacturing • Textiles industry (high-temperature applications) • Process engineering • Industrial PCs (24 V DC) • Water works (well systems)

  11. Power supply for power failure backup DC/DC 600V: Defined coast-down after power failure • No wasted materials, tool fractures, or time-consuming readjustment of the machine because of • Separation of tool and work-piece in controlled paths (emergency retraction) • Controlled braking of rotating spindles • Storing of actual parameters • For machines with frequency converter • Machine tools, textile or paper machines, and other machines . • Also suitable for DC power supply systems • Input voltages 300 to 770 V DC (12 A) 480 to 770 V DC (20 A)
