  2. Shortcut by Donald Crews We walked home without a word. We didn’t tell Bigmama. We didn’t tell Mama. We didn’t tell anyone. We didn’t talk about what happened for a very long time. And we didn’t take the shortcut again. End with final action

  3. Bigmamas by D. Crews Some nights even now, I think that I might wake up in the morning and be at Bigmama’s with the whole summer ahead of me. End with a memory that lingers

  7. Ends with hope, wish, dream In the end, we were not able to observe the fish in our classroom aquariums. The idea was to study them to see how they interact and what happens when new organisms were added. Unfortunately, all the fish had died within three days. Hopefully my students learned that even when things don’t work out in science, we can analyze and hypothesize why we got certain results and scientists don’t always have all the answers.
