INTRODUCTION TO: • Following Bloom’s Taxonomy: • Netscape’s Composer – Creates web pages via a WYSIWYG • Used in conjunction with Tripod – web storage space • Building Knowledge & Comprehension: • Quizlet – For online vocabulary cards & practice quizzes • Quia – For review games, online quizzes & surveys • United Streaming – video clips • Application, Analysis, Synthesis & Evaluation • Active History – For simulations • Example: French Revolution • Class Tools – Variety of interactive diagrams, games • History Lab – For inquiry based learning • Example Lab: Plight of the Native Americans • Nicenet – An online classroom for asynchronous chats • 4teachers – many teacher productivity tools

  3. NETSCAPE COMPOSER – WEB PAGES TO PULL ALL OF THE TECHNOLOGIES TOGETHER • Netscape Composer is a WYSIWYG • Allows for the creation of fast, free, and easy creation of a web page • Stored on Tripod for easy student access

  4. QUIZLET – ONLINE VOCABULARY • Create and practice vocabulary • Merge vocabulary sets into mega quizzes • Group access to peers vocabulary, allows for greater practice • Easy mechanism for observing students study habits & providing students with feedback

QUIA – ONLINE QUIZ AND ACTIVITY GENERATOR • Online quizzes allow students to take quizzes at home • Quizzes are uploaded from a word or text document • Quizzes are secured with a user name and password • Students re-take quizzes in preparation for tests • Small quizzes can be combined into larger quizzes with a random sample of questions selected • Create review activities that resemble TV game shows

  6. UNITED STREAMING – ACCESS TO DISCOVERY CHANNEL VIDEO • Download full length videos or clips of videos produced by the Discovery Channel • All Georgia schools have access to United Streaming through their public libraries

  7. ACTIVE HISTORY & CLASS TOOLS – FOR SIMULATIONS & ORGANIZATIONAL TOOLS • Active History • Supplemental readings, graphic organizers, simulations with guided practice worksheets, review games • Example: French Revolution • Class Tools – Variety of interactive diagrams, games

  8. HISTORY LAB – FOR INQUIRY BASED LEARNING • Modeled on the principals of a Science Lab • Goal: provide students with primary sources; students draw conclusions based upon the sources • Example: Plight of the Native Americans

  9. NICENET – A SECURE ONLINE CLASSROOM • Similar to Blackboard or Edline but free! • Post documents, send e-mail, post links, collect assignments • Great for holding asynchronous chats

  10. 4TEACHERS.ORG – A PLETHORA OF PRODUCTIVITY & TEACHING TOOLS • Create rubrics and project checklists from modifiable templates • Access an online note card database • Use Trackstar to create web-worksheets
