  5. DIVORCE – A Testament To Failure Mt 19:3-9 & Mk 10:2-12 • Based on Jesus’ initial answer, the Pharisees ask a “follow-up” question attempting to put Him at odds with Moses Mt 19:7-8 • Jesus exposes the failures of their position… • They mischaracterized Moses Ù not a “command” but an “allowance” or “permission”

  6. DIVORCE – A Testament To Failure Mt 19:3-9 & Mk 10:2-12 • Based on Jesus’ initial answer, the Pharisees ask a “follow-up” question attempting to put Him at odds with Moses Mt 19:7-8 • Jesus exposes the failures of their position… • They failed to see the real problem Ù hard hearts that take one away from God cp. Heb 3:12-15

  7. DIVORCE – A Testament To Failure Mt 19:3-9 & Mk 10:2-12 • Based on Jesus’ initial answer, the Pharisees ask a “follow-up” question attempting to put Him at odds with Moses Mt 19:7-8 • Jesus exposes the failures of their position… • They totally misunderstood Deut 24Ù they did not try to see the passage’s original purpose & how it reflected God’s marriage law “at the beginning”

  8.
