GENG 1803: Information Literacy component prior to 2005 • Development of information literacy and academic integrity skills have been a component of the subject for a number of years. • Information Literacy component worth 10% of overall course mark. • With a variety of approaches and assessment tasks supported by library workshops, learning materials delivered via Blackboard, and online discussions. Issues • Information literacy sessions and related assessment task placed emphasis on lower order thinking and information seeking behaviours, rather than information using behaviours. • Assessment task disjointed from other course assessment items. • Need for greater focus on principles related to academic integrity.
