Dockside Interview Data(RecFIN“Type 3” data) • OR & CA (1980-89, 1993-2003) • WA data not comparable for catch rates • Retained catch (numbers) per bag • Effort: (# contributing anglers) x (fishing time) • Year, Wave, County, Distance (<3 mi., >3 mi.) • Each record = 1 inspected fish • Validated trip identification algorithm • ~13,000 trips sampled, 1980-2003

  4. Historical CPFV OnboardObserver Data (CA) • Database provided by CDFW • Retained & discarded catch (numbers) • Catch and effort for each site visited in a trip(summed over drifts at each site) • Relatively precise depth information (min/max) • Primarily Central CA (1987-98), ~600 sites

  5. Current CPFV OnboardObserver Data • Observers recorded drift-specific catch, discard, and effort information for a subset of anglers • Precise locations (lat/lon) available for most drifts • Data from CDFW, ODFW, and California Polytechnic State University
