Academic Affairs Priorities (2014) Priority 1 - Work out Organizational Structures for areas reporting to Provost - Library approved, IT approved, AIO approved, COE approved, Extended Campus presented, OIS presented, COB presented, all others due this monthPriority 1 - Complete Futureu Strategic Plan First Year Report Completed organizational meeting - draft available soonPriority 1 - Implement ASC Task Force Transition Plan ASC Transition Team made recommendations to Cabinet on December 17th, final decision presented 2/18/14 (next slide)Priority 1 - Complete Program Prioritization and immediately begin implementation of the results – AScompleted, in hands of APCPriority 1– Plan, organize and host 2nd Annual OneMSUSymposium – Initial proposal done; Establishing and Leading the OneMSU Charge logistics being worked out (Date set for October 29-30, 2014)Priority 1 – Implement PLA pilot with OCHE and CAEL – MOU being formulated and Portfolio course being vetted

Academic Affairs Priorities 2014 (continued) Priority 1 - Work with Deans on College-related issues - 2014 investments (none), New PD Funds guidelines, OTO guidelines, Post-retirements process (in progress), New recruitment guidelines, Assessment budgets development, Grad. Studies planning (next slide) Priority 1 - Work with Academic Senate on issues raised - APC strategy; Course academic home report nearing completion - submitted to AS in January; Chairs, Programs Directors & Coordinator request Priority 1 - Work with FA/MTYFA on issues raised - Inversion/compression raises were approved and both new contracts have been ratified, Both MTYFA and FA have new merit process/amounts Priority 1 - Conduct important Academic Affairs searches - (later slide) Priority 1 - Work with OCI and OIS to establish and institutionalize new Faculty Excellence Awards for Community Engagement, and Inter- national Outreach - Done (except for sustaining award funding) Priority 1 - Work with MSUB Foundation to raise significant portion of funds for Yellowstone Hall – Case Statement and drawings received

OCHE Pilot with 3 MUS Colleges ($10K-2Yrs.)Prior Learning Assessment ServicesTo retain and graduate more adult students, Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) - awarding college credit for college-level learning from work and life experience can be standard practice at MSUB. The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) can help develop and optimize our program. Since 1974, they have created standards for awarding college credit through assessment, trained faculty evaluators, and have conducted research on the outcomes of these efforts.

OCHE/SD-2/BCCS/MSUB Dual Enrollment PilotIncrease Dual Enrollment options for Billings area HS’s• Enhance existing University Connections Program• Offer at least one Dual Enrollment course at each area high school, including the career center• Expand Dual Enrollment options is local more-rural communities such as Hardin and Laurel

Academic Affairs Priorities 2014 (continued) • Priority 1 - Complete Academic Affairs Unit-level strategic plans and implementation a tracking system through Asana – 2/28/14 deadline, software is up, and Dr. Redinger is beginning implementation in Cabinet • Priority 1 - Complete organizational structure, operation guidelines and policies for MSUB Extended Campus - Facility transition plan is underway and draft documents are in final stages of review • Priority 2 - Work collaboratively with University Relations to formulate and launch marketing strategies for Extended Campus and e-Learning - Preliminary discussions underway • Priority 2 - Begin acquisition and implementation of a University Calendar Tool - Product review complete, vendor negotiations underway and campus implementation strategies commencing • Priority 2 - Look at possible implementation of e-Learning Proctoring Center and new TEAL Classroom - Initial discussions underway, estimates being developed, room location identified, need to begin dialog with faculty and academic space scheduling staff

  8. Current Academic Affairs SearchesDean College of Arts and Sciences Barbara Wheeling and Patricia VettelBecker are Search Chair and Co-Chair. First review began yesterday, March 10th. (19 applicants) Institutional Research - Trudy Collins is Chairing the search. First deadline was February 3rd. Phone interviews completed, Finalist to interview March 17thDirector of e-Learning - Matt Redinger and Brett Weiss are Co-Chairing the search. First deadline was February 3rd. Phone interviews being conductedDirector for Graduate Studies - Under review by Deans, Grad Studies staff, Graduate Committee Chair, and ProvostVice Chancellor for Student Affairs - Search Committee Charge held on February 10th. Ad out this week. M. Pagano and T. Iverson are Co-Chairs. RPA hired as search consultant and visited campus on March 3rd Chancellor - Dr. Cruzado charged search Committee on February 4th. Prospectus came out 2/24/14. Terry Leist, MSU VP for Administration and Finance will Chair. Search Committee Phone call March 14th, Preferred application deadline: March 21st
