  1. Marriage inChrist Ephesians 5: 21-33

  2. Marriage in Christ

  3. Ephesians 5:28 …. husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. ……. …. 30 because we are members of His (Christ’s) body. 31 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh."

  4. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27) And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. (Genesis 1:31)

  5. Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." (Genesis 2:18)

  6. 2:21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23Then the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

  7. 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. 25And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

  8. Genesis Chapter 3

  9. Your (the woman’s) desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you. (Genesis 3:16) And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it. (Genesis 4:7)

  10. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you. (Genesis 3:16) Sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is foryou, but you must rule over it. (Genesis 4:7) “Desire for …. ” = “desire to control …. ” “Your desire will be to control your husband, but he will rule over you”

  11. Mark 10:6 But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.‘ 7 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh. 9 What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."

  12. Ephesians 4:24 … put on the new self, created after the likeness of Godin true righteousness and holiness.

  13. 4:1 walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 4:17 you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us 5:8 Walk as children of light 5:15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,

  14. Ephesians 5:18 do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit …… …… 21submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

  15. 22Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

  16. 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

  17. Romans 12:3 …. not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, Phillipians2:3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

  18. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,

  19. 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

  20. 1st Peter 3:1Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they see your respectful and pure conduct.

  21. 22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

  22. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

  23. Phil 2:5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

  24. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of His body.

  25. 1st Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends.

  26. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.

  27. 31 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

  28. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
