  2. When do Sea Breezes Occur? • Sea breezes normally occur in the daytime.

  3. When do Land Breezes occur? • Land breezes usually occur at night.

  4. How are they formed? • A land breeze is formed when the land is colder than the water. • Sea breezes are formed when the ocean is colder than the land. • Sea breezes blow in from the sea. • Land breezes blow out to sea.

  5. When are they the Strongest? • Sea breezes are strongest at noon. Land breezes are strongest at midnight. • Land and sea breezes can get up to 100 mph. • Sea breezes can reach 10 to 20 knots. (knots are equivalent to 1.15 miles per hour). • A land breeze sometimes only reaches 5 to 8 knots.

  6. Why do Sea Breezes Occur? • Sea breezes occur because of unequal heating. • The land is hot during the day. The air above the land rises ,and a cool breeze blows in from the sea. • The air pressure increases over the sea causing the air to move from sea to land.
