  1. Action PlanPUBLI C SPEAKING By BushraShekhani Prep Girls PECHS

  2. WHAT IS PUBLIC SPEAKING? Itis the process of speaking to a group of people in a structured, deliberate manner intended to inform, influence, or entertain the listeners. It is closely allied to “presenting”, although the latter has more of a commercial connotation.

  3. ELEMENTS OF PUBLIC SPEAKING • Who is speaking • What is spoken • To whom • Using what medium • With what effects

  4. WHAT WHAT PURPOSES CAN PUBLIC SPEAKING BE USED??? It can be a powerful tool for • Motivation • Persuasion • Information • Translation • Entertainment

  5. QUALITIES OF A GOOD PUBLIC SPEAKER The speaker should be able to • Change the emotions of the listeners • Achieve all the purposes of public speaking

  6. PUBLIC SPEAKING FEAR • Mostly people take PUBLIC SPEAKING as a stressful activity which it should not be. And that stress is basically PUBLIC SPEAKING FEAR. • Fear of public speaking strikes some people harder -- and differently -- than others, according to a new study. • The study shows that those who suffer most over speaking in public get more anxious -- not less anxious -- as their presentation gets under way. And when it's over, instead of feeling relief, they feel even more anxious.

  7. HOW TO OVERCOME THIS FEAR There are a few principles that should be kept in mind while speaking in public that would help overcome the stress and thus the FEAR!!!! • Speaking in Public is NOT Inherently Stressful • One doesn't have to be Brilliant or Perfect to Succeed • All one Needs is Two or Three Main Point

  8. One also Needs a Purpose That is Right for the Task • The Best Way to Succeed is Not to consider oneself a Public Speaker • Humility and Humor Can Go a Long Way • When one Speaks in Public, Nothing "Bad" Can Ever Happen! • One Doesn't Have to Control the Behavior of one’s Audience • In General, the More one Prepares, the Worse one Will Do • One’s Audience Truly Wants one to Succeed

  9. How to inculcate this in students In order to inculcate this thing in one’s students, one needs to be a good speaker him/herself and be able to achieve one or more purposes of public speaking when interacting with students. Only then would one be able to achieve the goal which would be “Developing this talent in the students.”

  10. Students should be • Given tasks involving achievement of at least one of the purposes of public speaking • Facilitated with guidelines to prepare material such as hand outs, banners, posters etc. • Should be guided and facilitated to be prepared before hand which involves • Knowing the audience • The material to be used • Knowing the room/surroundings • How to turn nervousness into positivity • Never to apologize to the audience

  11. THE CLOSING WORD!!! All that the students need to know is a few basic principles and start off with the task to achieve what public speaking is meant to achieve with the facilitators’ guide lines as “THERE IS NO WAY BETTER THAN TO GAIN PERFECTION IN SOMETHING THAN GAINING CONTINUOUS EXPERIENCE IN THAT SOMETHING.”

  12. Resources • Intel Getting started Master Trainer course manual. • Colleagues. • IT tools (Word processing, multimedia and spreadsheet applications) • Internet • IT Technology equipments

  13. Every Impossible says I AM POSSIBLE.
