  3. Objectives (2) In other words: • Exchange of information • on faulty products and measures taken • by sector or product type • on risk analysis and results • accidents (analysis) • best practices

  4. Objectives (3) In other words: • Forum of information on Member States Market Surveillance Programmes • Communication of statistics but also • Reflect RAPEX notifications (serious risk)

  5. Objectives (4) ICSMS shall provide information on: • products presenting a risk • results of testing carried out • restrictive measures taken • justification of actions or inaction • contacts with economic operators

  6. Objectives (5) In conclusion ICSMS • Should assist the enforcement of the overall market surveillance framework • Should facilitate cross-authority market surveillance work

  8. ICSMS today (1) • 11 EU-Member States + Switzerland use ICSMS • Set up in 2000 with three MS (DE, BE and SE) • Initially co-funded by Commission

ICSMS today (2) • Facilitate cooperation (e.g. contacts details and Directives they cover) • Secure system • Product information and test reports • Mean to interrogate, collate and present data in a easy to understand format (graphs, …) • Help and inform the public, authorities, workers, employees, …
